Fukushima: Reactor 4 -Cooling Suspended-

Japan has restarted its other nuclear plants, despite the ongoing emergency at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant that was very badly damaged on March 11, 2011 by the 9.0 earthquake, tsunami, (stuxnet and co.?) and failure of the plants operators to contain the situation 500 days later.

Tepco has stopped the cooling system supplied to the badly damaged Reactor 4 at Fukushima.  They cannot activate a backup cooling system and they are looking into the cause.  On June 25, Tepco removed an upper portion of reactor 4 and it is suspected they damaged the pipes of the cooling system.

Expect an announcement to be made very soon about their plans for the destruction of reactor 4.

If Reactor 4 experiences a complete meltdown then Japan will be over.  Then the northern hemisphere and finally the world.

By July 5, the temperature could reach 100 C.

Meanwhile reactor 1 is releasing  radiation at over 260 times “normal” amounts, due to a leak in the basement.  This is further hampering efforts to slow down the release of the nuclear fuel.

The annual allowed dose for workers at the stricken site is reached in only 20 seconds.

It’s time for Tepco to step aside and take an offer from someone else to clean up this mess as much as possible.  The one thing Tepco has done well is show the world that they are incompetent.  What do you do with radioactive waste?  Nuclear power has no long term benefit for this planet.
