Facebook Tool: Who Are You Looking At?

I came across an interesting little tool that tells you who you are searching for most on your facebook.  From the tests that I did the results seem pretty accurate.  I mean, you probably have an idea of who’s name you type in the search bar most, but still its a fun little trick.

Basically, you make sure https browsing is turned off. Then you take this little bookmarklet and drag it up to your toolbar.  It should say “facebook friends”.  Then you go to your facebook page and just click on the link you moved into your toolbar.  Your most searched for friends will be at the top.

infothread.org: Infographics That Are Fun

The internet is so huge sometimes we become overwhelmed at all the information provided.  I found a site awhile back that has given me so much information on many different topics.  It’s great for when you are bored, talking to friends, chatting at a cocktail party,  blah, blah, blah.

It’s called infothread.org informations sorted into categories on random subjects from fashion to military to photoshop to advice to history to paranormal…and everything in between.  It has over 10,000 infographics: A graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics present complex information quickly and clearly, such as in signs, maps, journalism, technical writing, and education.

Visit this informative site, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Do Not Question: Who Put That In There?

Conspiracy Generator

These days you can’t turn on the t.v., browse the web, read the paper (do people still do that), leave the house or drink a glass of water without the word “conspiracy” finding its way to you.   I don’t  know how I found this generator, but you simply fill in the blanks and hit enter and you get a conspiracy.   It’s mildly entertaining.

“Why can’t anyone see that chuck norris is being watched by Costa Rica? It’s all so that NSA, hidden in a secret HQ near akron, ohio can poison the ocean. After that, Costa Rica will give everyone ebola when the disorder caused by NSA reaches a peak. The only thing we can do is let a stray dog put together a militia to stop them.”

Try it out, it’s fast and stupid.

Gender Guesser Tool

I found this online tool hilarious.  It’s Hacker Factor’s “gender guesser”.  You add a block of text (at least 300 words) and it returns a guess on the gender of the writer of the text.  I don’t know why I would have a use for this, but someone might.  Usually you can tell someone’s gender after 300 words without ever looking at them or knowing what sex they are.   I guess if you were talking to someone online that said they were a man, but their words were written in the style of a female you may want to use it.   But the results aren’t perfect.

These are the results I got:

Genre: Informal
Female = 514
Male = 706
Difference = 192; 57.86%
Verdict: Weak MALE

Weak emphasis could indicate European.

Genre: Formal
Female = 617
Male = 446
Difference = -171; 41.95%
Verdict: Weak FEMALE

Weak emphasis could indicate European.

Well I guess I should contact the “hackers” at hacker factor because their tool was incorrect.  Informally I’m neither a dude nor European.   Formally, they were correct about my gender, I am a female, but still not European.   I definitely do not speak the queen’s english.

If you decide to try it out, leave a comment for me so I can laugh.

Engaging Interactive Websites

Last fall there was a creepy facebook app released right before halloween  called “Take This Lollipop”.  It pulls information from your Facebook account to bring you an interactive “in the movie” experience.  The whole point of the app was to show you the vulnerabilities of posting your data online and how easy it would be for a stalker to find you. It went viral and was a smash hit.  If you haven’t heard of it, try it out: www.takethislollipop.com  It will access your facebook data, but it doesn’t share the data..its only for entertainment for you.

Since then I’ve really enjoyed those types of interactive apps. I’m a narcissist. Here are some that i’ve found.

This one is called “All Tomorrow’s Legends”, an ad campaign for Ray-Ban.  It’s NOT scary.

I like this one because it’s unique and you can use it!  The app accesses your facebook profile photo, then converts it into audio.  You can then download it and have a unique ringtone!  http://www.persoton.de/

I found these sites on www.thefwa.com ,but please submit ones that you have found.

Teach My Bot At Jabberwacky!

Awhile back I signed up for a year to teach my own chatbot at http://www.jabberwacky.com.  If you’ve ever talked to Cleverbot, then you understand what the bot does.  It attempts to “learn” from the people that interact with it.  My bot located here:

It is nowhere near as advanced as cleverbot.  But, anyone that goes to that link and talks to it, teaches it too.  Eventually the bot will become more sensible..or not…depending on what people say to it.  Anyone can purchase a years subscription to make their own bot, totally blank of any vocabulary.  It’s pretty fun to teach and i’ve learned that over 3,000 learned words is not nearly enough to make it human.  Go talk and teach my bot Isabelle!!
